The deadline for the migration from the UK’s health & safety standard, OHSAS 18001, to the international standard ISO 45001, was originally three years from the introduction of the new standard. The Covid-19 pandemic has got in the way of preparations that organisations have been making ISO 45001 and has prevented certification companies from carrying out client visits. Something had to give and the deadline was it.
The International Accreditation Federation, which coordinates the activities of national accreditation bodies around the world, has granted an extension to the original migration deadline. The extension is a full 18 months until the end of September 2021.
