Richard Shearwood-Porter, BSc, MBA

Managing Associate

Richard established The HSQE Department Ltd based on experience gained during 30 years working in the public & private sectors in the UK and overseas.  During his career Richard progressed from being a technical specialist to managing manufacturing sites, so really understands the sometimes conflicting priorities involved in running businesses and is passionate about simplifying legislation and systems for the management of environmental, health & safety, quality & HR in a business setting. Richard is active in the Avon Occupational Safety & Health Group (AOSH), the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA), British Chambers of Commerce and has served with numerous Trade Associations and environmental panels, helping to shape environmental legislation. Other professional interests include management of change, team building, organisational performance improvement and the management of innovation.

Recent projects include integrated ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 management systems; planning permission & environmental permits for a national waste management group; internal audit programmes for telecoms, construction & facilities management; setting up a PAS 100 quality protocol for network of commercial composting sites; management systems workshops for the Hinkley Point nuclear construction supply-chain.
