The HSQE Department sponsors NISP Quick-Wins workshop
NISP (the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme) is a business improvement programme, free at the point of delivery, which delivers environmental, social and economic benefits. NISP is the first industrial symbiosis initiative in the world to be launched on a national scale.
Industrial symbiosis brings together separate industries and organisations from all business sectors, with the aim of improving cross-industry resource efficiency and sustainability. The concept involves the physical exchange of materials, energy, water and/or by-products, together with the shared use of assets, logistics and expertise.
NISP aims to deliver bottom-line benefits for its members, whilst generating positive outcomes for the environment and society. Put simply, NISP’s vision is to change the way business thinks. Operating at the forefront of industrial symbiosis thinking and practice, the programme helps companies take a fresh look at their resources.
Although NISP is a national programme, it is delivered at a regional level across the UK. Each of the twelve regions has a team of dedicated industrial symbiosis practitioners that work closely with businesses in their area, to raise awareness of industrial symbiosis and to recruit members to the programme.
The HSQE Department has worked with NISP on a number of projects over the last two years and is proud to be sponsoring a Quick-Wins workshop in Bridgwater, Somerset on the 19th of January. Managing Associate, Richard Shearwood-Porter, will be offering insights on how quality management system ISO 9001 & environmental management system ISO 14001 can be used to improve resource efficiency, reduce waste & improve a business's bottom line.
This workshop will benefit organisations of around 50 employees and above, whether or not they already have ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 in place.
